This Week in the Digital Photography School Forums | Oct 16 – 22
We had a pretty short winners post last week, and I hope that I can do a little better this week! Thank you to all who entered the weekly forum assignment, the assignment is supposed to push you and help you think creatively and turn a simple subject into a dynamic photo that makes people think a little bit. We had the subject Street Signs and to be a little bit controversial, the quality seems to have dropped somewhat! So, what were doing is adding a little tempter, a prize if you will, from our friends over at www.thinktankphoto.com. They are going to give the winner of our weekly assignment one of their memory card holders, and theyve offered a code for dPS peeps to use if they decide to purchase a thinkTank bag, that means they get an extra free accessory. So, I hope that helps us to want to do better though, were here on Digital Photography School so that means we already want to do better, right!
Enough of my jibba jabba!

Heres some insight from our judges on why they chose this image
- Two points for this one as its funny and a good composition (ie not dead center) and good use of depth of field and nice b&w conversion
- Firstly, three points for this photo, which is humorous and has a strong composition with good use of depth of field to make the intruder clear (as if any extra clues were needed but a good photo avoids conflicting clues about the intended subject)
- Two Points: I love simplicity and a shallow depth of field when it suits the subject and both work well on this
- Three points- who me? - I like the fact that they took the time to think the assignment thru and then came up with something really creative. And the fact that they did a nice job on it is a HUGE plus!
So, congratulations RC NoFrada! Youre the proud new owner of a thinkTank Photo Pixel Pocket Rocket Please contact me to arrange delivery.

- But why? Then 2 points for this shot. A subtle palette of colours and similar scales of the puppy and surrounding soft toys mean they blend together well, requiring a second look to spot the odd one out
